Using these case studies, students will be introduced to investigative concepts such as the five types of evidence and the five defenses to any crime. This case method will improve their understanding of what prosecutors need to be successful at trial. The course also explores community engagement efforts in the Port City that have improved the crime rate in the region and enhanced relations with citizens. Following the Five Arms of the Starfish model, students improve their appreciation of the community and develop an alternative perspective for fighting crime.
